Practice Nurses

The practice employs two practice nurses:

  • Sister Pippa Burchell RN Dip HE
  • Sister Lucy Owens RN Dip HE BA Hons

The Nurses have their own appointment times, offices and fully equipped treatment room. There are usually two members of the team on duty between 8am to 6.20pm. They will see you for dressings, leg ulcer care, removal of stitches, ear syringing, preventative health screening, weight management, blood pressure checks and smear tests. They also hold clinics for patients with Cardiovascular disease, Diabetes, Asthma, Chronic Bronchitis, Child immunisation and Travel advice, including holiday vaccinations. They can also give health advice and are available to return telephone calls at the end of each morning.

When making an appointment with the nurse please indicate to the receptionist the reason for the appointment as this will help to ensure that you are booked in with the appropriate nurse. The nurse may need to consult a doctor about your problem if your condition requires it.

Sister Pippa Burchell RN joined the practice in August 2008. Her clinical interests are in Smoking Cessation and Travel Advice as well as general nursing practice.

Lucy Owens RN Dip HE BA Hons joined the practice in March 2011. As part of her general nursing duties, she attends to well-woman checks, smoking cessation, wound care and minor injuries as well as a developing an interest in Chronic Disease Management.
